Youth Shooting Program for Ages 8-18
Safe & Competitive Training

Looking for a safe and structured way to introduce your child to the sport of shooting? Our Youth Shooting Program is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 18 and is led by NRA-certified coaches who focus on gun safety, proper firearm handling, and the fundamentals of shooting. Sessions are held every Thursday at 5:00 PM, running from March through June.

For youth athletes interested in advancing their skills, our program also competes in the California Youth Shooting Sports Association (CYSSA). This gives young shooters the opportunity to travel across California and Northern Nevada, participating in age-specific shooting competitions at regional gun clubs.

Ear and eye protection are required, and there are experienced shooters on hand if you need assistance. Members/$5.00 and Non-members/$10 for the day.

Also available at our pistol range is a concealed carry class and a licensed FFL.

.22 Caliber Silhouette

The .22 Caliber Center Fire Varmint Silhouette Shoot is held at 9:00 am on the first Saturday of each month, weather permitting.

It is a 40 round match. 20 rounds standing and 20 rounds sitting or kneeling. There are 5 different targets; squirrels, crows, woodchucks, rabbits, and coyotes. The targets are approximately life-size heavy steel and are set at ranges from 60 to about 250 yards. Rifles allowed are, .22 center fire (e.g., 223, 22-250, .22 Hornet) or smaller center fire (e.g. .204 Ruger, .17 Rem). Targets will be scored with a visible hit, they do not need to be knocked down.

Members/$5.00 and Non-members/$10 for the match. Money awards (depending on number of shooters) will go to the high standing, high sitting and high overall score. In case of ties, there will be shoot offs.

.22 Caliber Small Bore Silhouette

Metallic silhouette shooting is a target shooting discipline that involves shooting at metal cutouts representing game animals at varying distances. The chickens are placed at 40 meters, pigs at 50 meters, turkeys at 77 meters, and rams at 100 meters.

The rifles are split into categories by weight, so that the heavier target rifles with bull barrels are not competing against lighter hunting rifles. The two classes for this venue of shooting are small bore rifle light (sport rifles) and small bore rifle heavy. Any sight is allowed on the rifles. Any .22 long rifle ammo can be used, but no hyper velocity loads are allowed, such as stingers.

The course of fire is 60 shots offhand, 15 at each bank of animals. Youth are encouraged to shoot off the bench the first few times. The cost of a match is Members/$5.00 and Non-members/$10, but new shooters shoot free the first time. Shoots are held the fourth Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. Range opens at 9:00 a.m. for practice.

Trapshooting

Trapshooting is a popular venue at the club. During the spring and summer months, the shoots are held on Sundays at 1 p.m. During the winter, they are held at 1 p.m. as well, but weather permitting. We have four trap fields equipped with automatic Pat-Trap machines and Canterbury Voice release system. Cost is $20.00 per three rounds, or $7.00 per round. The first round for newcomers is always free.

We offer personal, one on one instruction for first time shooters as well as the use of club shotguns, if prior arrangements are made. Our club hosts several sanctioned trap shoots a year in conjunction with the Pacific International Trap Association (PITA) and they are attended by shooters form all over Northern California and Northern Nevada. We have lots of room for camping and RVs are welcome! However, there are no hookups at this time. We have a very active youth trap shooting program and our kids compete state wide. Fun shoots and corporate outings are popular as well. We throw 200,000 targets a year. Come check us out, we would love to see you!
